Speaks for the ones who never quite fit in.
On the Konkan coast, there is a woman who appears at the turn of every season. Fishermen call her Mohe. Her only confidant is Eka.
Eka, in old Goan lore, is the fish who knows something you don't. It swam out of the first tide and never went back. It lives between worlds, the surface and the deep.
It watches. It says nothing but knows everything.
Mohe does not chase beauty. She dresses for the world she intends to inhabit.
Some say she is the turn of the season.
Only fools ask which.
