Longpi pottery from the Ukhrul district of Manipur with its varied tones of blacks and reds have risen in popularity in recent times. The unmistakable, almost iridescent sheen is the product of serpentine clay reacting with the Chironna leaves which are used to polish the pottery. The Channi cup is made with traditional Longpi techniques but has a lovely minimal contemporary to it. The strainer allows you to steep your tea directly in the cup, limiting waste and allowing for a faster clean-up. Tula works exclusively with a potter who is native to the Ukhrul district and produces the pieces directly from her home.
We take pride in the slight variations in colours and textures of handmade products and hope that you will not perceive them as a flaw but as a unique mark of its artisan. We hope it brings you much joy.
